With the recent launch of Figure AI’s next version of humanoid Figure 02, founder and CEO of the company Brett Adcock, has taken a friendly dig at Tesla founder Elon Musk who is developing their version of advanced humanoid with Optimus.
Sharing the famous meme from the movie Captain Phillips, Adcock replied to an older tweet of Musk, where he challenges the Figure AI founder with a simple, “Bring it on.” Interestingly, Musk has removed the old tweet (below screenshot taken before deleting).

In March, Adcock announced Figure’s new valuation of $2.6B valuation raising $675M from prominent investors including Microsoft, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Jeff Bezos and other VC firms. In Adcock’s tweet explaining the collaboration agreement to develop next gen AI models for robots, with these investors, Musk chose to bring on the competition in a seemingly friendly way. It is to this tweet that Adcock chose to reply now.
Humanoid Race
With the humanoid race gaining steam more than ever, big tech companies are spending big on robotics. NVIDIA has been powering the next humanoid race with their products including Nim Microservices, OSMO, and MimicGen.
The last update of Musk’s Optimus Gen-2 humanoid came in December last year, where the humanoid was able to perform more movements that involved dexterity with its hands.
Funnily, the latest video of Figure 02 is eerily similar to the demo video of Optimus Gen-2. At this level of competition, it will be interesting to see who would emerge as the ultimate winner in the robotics race.
