Pravartak Technologies of IIT Madras is launching a free course to impart industry-ready tech skills in partnership with Sony India Software Centre for engineering graduates for the year 2020–2022 and a family income of less than INR 8,00,000.
Sony India Finishing School Skill Development Training Program will focus on training in areas of AI and machine learning, cybersecurity and computer graphics while also offering training in communication skills.
At the end of the course, Sony India Software Centre will offer employment to the top 15 performers from the course. Pravartak Technologies Foundation (PTF) will guide the rest of the students with placements by arranging interviews through the IIT-M placement cell.
The free programme will also offer a stipend to the highest scorers in the entrance examination, followed by a mandatory interview for entry into the course.
IIT-M director Professor V Kamakoti said that the course will specifically focus on students from non-urban parts of India and therefore will benefit them in bridging the gap between their skills and the industry requirements.
The programme is a six-month, full time course in physical classrooms. Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be awarded certificates.
