Tesla is looking for ‘hardcore’ AI engineers, said its founder Elon Musk. In the application form, the company specifically asks for candidates to detail about the ‘exceptional work’ they have done in software, hardware or AI.
Musk tweeted, “As always, Tesla is looking for hardcore AI engineers who care about solving problems that directly affect people’s lives in a major way.” In the same thread, he also added that it is not necessary to have a background in AI. He wrote, “A background in “AI” is not needed, just exceptional skill in software or computer design.”

The application process has been kept simple with where the candidate has to fill in their name and email address, upload a resume, and provide details of what they have done in software, hardware or AI. The official statement says, “We develop and deploy autonomy at scale in vehicles, robots and more. We believe that an approach based on advanced AI for vision and planning, supported by efficient use of inference hardware, is the only way to achieve a general solution for full self-driving and beyond.”
Candidates hired will be working with eight of their projects which include FSD Chip, Dojo Chip, Dojo Systems, Autonomy Algorithms, Neural Networks, Evaluation Infrastructure, Code Foundations and Tesla Bot.
